Enrollment Day for Incoming 9th

Valhalla Enrollment Day is for incoming 9th grade students that live in the Valhalla boundary or who have completed the School Choice process and were assigned to Valhalla. This day is set aside to complete the enrollment process for the 2017-18 school year. Students, along with their parent, are asked to come present their Proof of Residence (Samples), a copy of their Birth Certificate, and Immunization Records. Students will also be able to take their picture for a student ID card, purchase PE clothes, and setup an individual appointment with their school counselor to Complete Course Selection for their 2017-18 schedule. This is a mandatory event for incoming students. If you have not completed the District's Online Registration process, please do so prior to the event. CLICK HERE to complete that process.

Winter Formal will be at the Birch Aquarium on Saturday Feb 4th from 6-10pm. Ticket prices are listed below. Get your tickets early to receive the best discounts. Come back to this post later for parking and other needs. Guest Passes are available through the Assistant Principal's office.

Band Performs at Pearl Harbor Parade

Toni's Toys - November 16th - December 9th

In memory of Toni Gutierrez, we will be continuing our annual toy drive in her honor with Toni's Toys, starting on Wednesday, November 16th through Friday, December 9th. This year we will be expanding our donations to multiple community agencies throughout El Cajon.

HOLIDAY TREE - The holiday tree will be located in the Guidance Center, where students can select a tag (starting on Wednesday, November 16th) with the age and gender of a child they would like to purchase a toy for. Students then bring the new unwrapped toy and place it under the tree before December 9th. Students can keep the tag as a reminder of what they did and can place it somewhere special at home.

Last year our toy drive was a success because of every teacher who did so much to promote it in their classes. Posters and flyers should be ready by the end of the week, however we are trying to get the word out before Thanksgiving break. Please encourage your students to participate in this special experience.

Toni's Kids

WHO ARE TONI’S KIDS?
Each year, in addition to the toy drive, Toni would organize and collect gift cards from staff and community businesses to help Valhalla students in need during the holidays. In her honor, we named this special cause “Toni’s Kids”, because Toni never wanted to see a child go without a gift for Christmas.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
If you would like to donate a gift card to Toni’s Kids, we will be collecting them between November 28 through December 13, 2016. You can drop them off to either Marina Hernandez (AP Office) or to Tanya Bulette (Guidance Center). Counselors will distribute gift cards to students confidentially before winter break.

Suggested Gift Cards:
  • Walmart or Target
  • Gas Stations
  • Clothing Stores (Old Navy, KOHLS)
  • Mall Gift Certificates
  • Grocery Stores (VONS/Albertsons)
STUDENTS IN NEED:
If you know of a student in need, please email or drop a note with the student’s name to Tanya or Marina before December 13th. If you know of their particular need (food, gas, clothing, etc.), that would be helpful in determining which gift card to give them.  

*NEW - This year We will also have a box in the Guidance Center where students can confidentially let counselors know about friends or other Valhalla students who are in need. More info on this to come!

Senior Portraits Information

Dates: June 20 – July 1 (Pre schedule appointments) Portraits are being taken in Room T26 (in the Portables)
Make-up Dates: August 22 – Aug 27 (Location TBA)

If your student did not receive a packet from Lifetouch please call (858) 935-6969 to schedule your appointment.  Please be aware that some of the packets delivered to students had incorrect times, all “am” times were meant to be “pm.”  If you still have concerns please call Lifetouch.

There is no cost to take your senior portrait, only if you choose to purchase a portrait packet. All seniors being photographed should be nicely dressed and will be photographed on the blue background.  All senior portraits to be used in the yearbook must be taken by Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch. 

December 10, 2016 is the Final Deadline for taking your senior Portrait to guarantee submission into the yearbook.  
***Any portraits taken after Dec. 10, 2016 may not be featured in the yearbook.  Any questions please call (858) 935-6969.

Computers 2 SD Kids Program

On Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm Computers 2 SD Kids Program will be hosting a Connect 2 Compete distribution event at a neighbor district at Vista La Mesa Academy – Lemon Grove School District
 
Families will have the option to purchase a computer with a CRT monitor for $50, or a computer with an LCD monitor for $80, and get Cox internet service for $9.95/month (the $9.95 amount is not due at the distribution). The day of the distribution families will have the choice to purchase a computer only, register for the internet only, or get both a computer and internet service.
 
Families do not need to obtain a free lunch letter prior to the distribution. Cox will pre-qualify the school, which will allow families, who are not a current Cox member and do not owe Cox money from a previous account, the ability to sign-up for the $9.95/month special. To qualify for a computer families must be considered low-income.
